Andrew Obinna Kalu Onyearu

Andrew Obinna Kalu Onyearu is Global Group Executive Director, Corporate Services and General Counsel at the Aiteo and Bravura Groups. In this dual capacity, he leads the legal, corporate governance, and strategic management functions across both conglomerates, whose operational footprints span Oil & Gas, Power, Mining, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Health, and Agriculture. He plays a central role in shaping and delivering the Groups’ cross-border legal strategy, regulatory engagement, and business objectives globally.
Andrew has 40 years of legal experience in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He has advised multinational corporations, governments, and energy majors across sectors and jurisdictions. Prior to joining Aiteo, he served as Project Coordinator and Team Lead of the Consolidated Legal Team advising the Federal Government of Nigeria on Gas Supply Agreements for the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP)—one of the most complex and strategic initiatives in the country’s power sector. His work spanned negotiations with major International Oil Companies (IOCs), government stakeholders, and industry regulators.
Beyond his core legal practice, Andrew has led Aiteo’s groundbreaking initiatives in sports development, particularly football. Under his direction, Aiteo became the Official Optimum Partner of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) from 2017, taking a leading role in sponsoring the Aiteo Cup (formerly the Nigerian FA Cup) and underwriting salaries for Nigeria’s national football teams.
His 40 years of professional experience, notably in Nigeria and the UK, have been marked by high-level engagements at the intersection of law, business strategy, and international development. His work consistently bridges legal analysis with operational realities in some of the most challenging and high-impact environments. In the last 15 years, he has worked across Nigeria’s most demanding sectors—Oil & Gas, Power, and Mining—gaining a uniquely cross-sectoral perspective critical for today’s integrated global industries.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B Honours) from the University of Nigeria (1984) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. He has been a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales since 1993. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Oil, Gas, and Energy Law from London Metropolitan University and has completed executive programmes at Harvard Law School and other leading institutions across Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Asia.
From 1997 to 2010, he was Senior Partner at Andrews Solicitors, a London-based law firm. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and the UK Energy Institute. He was also formerly a FIFA and England Football Association–licensed player agent and intermediary, which complements his longstanding interest and leadership in sport-business integration.
A prolific writer and communicator, Andrew has published over 50 articles in the fields of law, energy, and sports across various media platforms. He remains a highly respected thought leader, particularly in the African energy and sports sectors.
